hi bri and the rest of the gang (been a while )
(posting in this section as hoping it is software related)
anyway straight to it..
My son decided on building a custom computer and after spending nearly a grand on the hardware he put the whole thing together himself (first build on his own) all looked great boot-up fine everything seemed to be fine, then he noticed the dreaded red cross over the speaker icon...no sound
i asked him if he had installed all the drivers? yup.
i went to the device manager and i noticed yellow triangle on the realtek high definition controller, their is two of those currently shown on his Device Manager. He is currently having to resort to using sound via his Graphics Card via the HDMI port, as he cannot get no bite from the on-board sound, we've tried all of the things suggested on google such as; uninstall, re-install latest, fiddle around with BIOS (Enabling an Disabling the on-board sound) etc.
Windows detects the on-board sound as installed however throws the error code (10) stating that the device cannot be started, all drivers seem to be updated, just no idea why it won't work.
His build as follows
Windows 10 Pro Edit
Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 Motherboard
Intel Core i5 Skylake 6400 2.7GHz
ASUS Strix GTX 960 4GB Graphics Card
Corsair Vengeance LED 3000mhz DDR4 8GB Ram Sticks (x2)
Samsung 750 Evo 256gb SSD
500gb Western Digital Hard Drive
Corsair H100i V2 Water Cooler,
3 Corsair Stock Fans
Corsair RM750 Fully Modular PSU
Samsung DVDRW Drive
Corsair Obsidian 750D
Any idea what could be causing this issue and whether he should just get a sound card or not?
thnx in advance
