I'm not sure what happened, but I'll try to explain this in as much detail as I can.
I'll start with some background, since I think it'll be nessecary.
I have an asus gaming computer, running Windows eight since my bios isn't compatible with Windows ten.
In the past Windows updates have rendered my computer inoperable by doing things to its drives. Basically it would become stuck in a loop of error recovery unable to start.
That stopped when geek squad hid my drives from the updates. But that made way for other problems from
The updates, to name a few one update corrupted my instal of Windows, and another made it so my computer could not play audio (if I remember correctly) most often the errors would result in data loss as my computer was fixed, which has led me to dread Windows updates.
Today my computer updated, and at first it seemed everything was fine. The only oddity I noticed was that while it was updating there was a notification saying that it would automatically update my computer in one day. I found this strange as those updates generally would show up a couple of days in advance, if at all. This was the first I've ever had display while my computer updated.
When I was able to log in, everything seemed fine. No error messages, no slowness, lag, or oddities.
So I decided that it was fine and went ahead and gamed without any issues.
Later I was moving some files of my phone, some picture and videos I had taken. It was then that I noticed a new drive, the 'System F:' drive. Curious I clicked on the drive, only to have it tell me that I needed admin permission. Being that I am the admin of the computer, I could have gone ahead but decided against it. I assumed that the Windows update had made the drive visible by mistake and didn't want to risk messing anything up. I was about to post here asking about it, but I didn't have a the time since I was about to head out.
I got back home a couple of hours later, booted up the computer with no issues and gamed for awhile until the game suddenly crashed - given that the game was skyrim and I have it rather heavily modded this didn't surprise me, though a CTD was a bit weird considering how recently it had just been freezing and needing to be closed with task manager. Not to sure if the game crash is related but I thought I should add just in case it is.
Anyways after it crashed I decided to just watch some videos for awhile, and at first this was just fine. Until the closed caption on YouTube started turning on and off on their own. I tried to pause the video, but that led to more oddities that I can coherently recall (pausing, unpausing, full screen, no full screen, time in the video changing, page reloading, ect.) finally I was able to click off the video which stopped the insanity that had been ensuing. I assumed that my mouse must have been wearing out - guessing that it was randomly clicking. I clicked the YouTube search bar and my computer started writing text into it on its own.
Naturally I flipped out.
I started up malware bytes and it was clear that my computer was still trying to type given the sounds it made as malware byte's message box came up.
Thankfully malware bytes could ran and as it scanned I got the idea to open notepad and see what it had been trying to write.
In notepad it wrote out the date, the time, and a string of numbers I can't recal over and over.
About then I remembered seeing the system f drive and went to check if it was still there, surprisingly it wasn't. But as I had that window open, I can only guess that the window was reloading a lot as the icons were spazzing. Changing from blank white icons that show up when the icon itself hasn't loaded and the regular icons.
It was at that point that I shut the computer off. I couldn't think straight, really panicked since it had started doing that so suddenly.
Does anyone here have any idea what was going on and why?
