Using VLC media player to trim videos

Just found out how to do this today might be something for a future video..

First open the 'long' video you want to trim using VLC, make a note of the start and endpoints you want to keep, this will be your 'small' video
Then do VIEW/Advanced Controls, you notice a record button appears at the bottom
Move the video along to the start of the 'small' video you want and press play, then press the Record button
At the end of your 'small' video press Record button again
Your 'small' video is extracted to your default videos location eg C:/ Username/Videos
